My Husband is my Happy

Our Wedding Cake Toppers. We wanted something unique to top our cake so we decided to make them ourselves. The little guys in the picture above were made out of Sculpey and a lot of love.

It isn’t very often that you find someone who can be your best friend, your love, and your life.  I’ve been very blessed to have found that someone.

My husband George is probabably not the smartest person you’ll meet, definitely not the richest, and he dresses like an over grown kid … but when I look at him I see something different. I see a man with the biggest soft spot, a generous personality, and a man would do anything for the people most important in his life.  I see a man who knows that the most important thing on this Earth is your family.

Love at Second Sight

We met way back in April 2000.  I went to friend’s house for what I thought was going to be a fun little drink up.  Unfortunately, by the time I got there everyone was already drunk.  I felt a little uncomfortable because I was the only sober person in the house.  I began to debate in my head “Should I stay or should I go?”  Then … about 10 minutes later … George walked into the sliding glass door.  It was at that moment I decided to leave.

July 2000 rolled around and I met up with the same friend to go watch a movie. I went to my friends house and George was sitting on the couch.  George didn’t remember me at all.  However, he said I could ride with him to the theaters and after the movie we shared carne asada fries.  We had good conversation, but I thought nothing of it.  To me, he was just “the guy who ran into the sliding door.”

Two days later, George comes over to my parents house and presents me with a big blue M&M doll and a Winnie the Pooh Snow Globe.  My immediate reaction was “OMG … he’s sprung!”  I remember telling my BFFs on 3-way how bad I felt for taking those gifts of affection.  I wanted to give them back to him because I felt awful that he had spent so much money on me!  They both convinced me to keep it by saying, “Girl,  you didn’t ask for it.  It was a gift.  Keep it!”  So I did.

She Finally Falls In Love

After that day he called me about 2 to 3 times a day.  I was a little annoyed by his frequent calls but after about the third week I learned a little bit more about him.  I learned what a genuine guy he was.  I also learned that he was a family man.  He loved his Grandmother and took really good care of her.

After about a month,  we held hands for the first time during the movie “Hollow Man” … A couple weeks after that we had our first kiss.  A couple months later … I finally fell in love.

Just Us

We’ve seen each other during our best and worst days.  We don’t fight, we “debate” then compromise.  We never go to bed angry.  And we are perfectly content just being in the same room together.  I’m the luckiest girl alive to have someone like him.

On November 22, 2008 … we got married and it was the happiest day of my life.  I know it sounds a bit cliche,  but it’s true.

My wish for you

My wish is that everyone in this world could find someone who makes them feel as complete as my husband makes me feel.  It’s not that you have to be married to feel that way,  you can find that person in your best friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, or even your pets!   Whoever it is … I just hope everyone finds someone who is there height of happiness.
