Don't step on it ... it makes you cry!

I am a happy person and I feel comfortable in my own skin BUT sometimes when I look in the mirror I realize that my self-perception is not in line with how I actually look.

Weight can affect one’s self esteem and, most importantly, it can affect your health.  This can ultimately lead to unhappiness which is totally against everything we believe in.

BFF and I were talking one day about how we wished we could drop some of these unwanted pounds.  We came up with 3 mantras to motivate us!  This list is intended to be light-hearted and fun,  but it actually has some truth to it.

# 1 Food is Abundant

Why do we stuff our faces with so much food as though we will not be able to eat again?  There is no need to stuff our faces with as much food as we can just because it is there.   Nature gives us food … and so do the many grocery stores out there.  Food will always be available.

#2  Fat is Gross

If we are trying to get rid of the extra fat on our bellies,  why do we continue consume so much of it?  Does fat really taste that good?  ew.

#3  Taste is temporary

This is the most important of them all.  Taste is temporary,  therefore we should eat a little bit now and save some for later.  This will prolong the lasting affect of the taste.

Like I said,  this list is intended to be light-hearted and fun but maybe it will affect you in a positive way.  For example … next time you feel like eating a whole bag of chips … think about these 3 mantras …. you’ll probably eat less. =)

Don’t Forget to Say “Thank You!”

When I was growing up my parents would tell me how fortunate I was to have such good things and that I was spoiled.  At the time I would think, “Whatever … they just don’t know how things are now.  Times are different.”  Now that I am older, and hopefully wiser,  I realize that they were right and they still are right.

Just about everything is “easy” and “accessible” … when something is not “easy” or “accessible” we whine and complain how it should be “improved.”  We complain about so many things:  buggy software programs are, dropped calls, temporary shut off of water/electricity/cable, walking far, or even how overweight we are.

Instead of complaining we should be THANKFUL that we live in a world where we have technology  which enables us to work more efficiently.  Mother nature has given us everything we need to survive.  She even has hidden gems that man has use to create such wonderful technology.

We are so spoiled that we sometimes forget how much work goes into discovering these new and wonderful technologies.  We complain instead of being thankful.  We should be thankful that we don’t have to send mail by the pony express, walk 2 miles to get water from a well, start a fire to cook food, or even be so skinny because we didn’t catch the fish for dinner.

If we complained less and started being thankful for everything that we do have … we WILL live a more happy and positive life.

Saying “thank you” goes a very long way.  It radiates positive energy to those who hear it.  It also makes you feel so blessed that you are alive and able to enjoy all these things.

Many of us feel the need to plan every step of the way.  We spend all this time planning out every step of the way, that sometimes,  we are afraid to take that first step. Once we see all the possible “what if” scenarios, we grow more and more scared that we will never make it to our goal.

It is very frightening to take the very first steps into unfamiliar territory, but without taking those first steps,  how will we ever get anywhere?

I am a planner by nature, but I never have the need to control.  I am analyst by nature to, but I have a “can do” attitude.

Yes, I get scared … BUT … I do not let that stop me.

If you really want something, go for it.  If you do not reach your goal, it is okay.

Maybe the universe has another goal in store for you.   You just needed to take that first step to see it slowly revealed to you.  This has happened to me several times in my life.  Each time I “failed” a new opportunity came about.

I don’t believe we ever fail,  we just take a different path.  All you have to do is trust in faith and trust in yourself.

Happy News: A Baby Girl!

A height of happiness for one of my dearest friends…I got a message that she delivered her first baby this morning at 3:59 am.  It’s a baby girl! What an exciting new adventure. They’re going to be awesome parents! Sooo happy for them! Congratulations!

I watched the Disney movie “Meet the Robinsons” last night.  The movie is about a young inventor who is faced with challenges in his life, and eventually overcomes them, in the creative and heartwarming way that Disney is known for.  This movie is filled with inspiring life lessons. There were great messages about moving forward, never giving up, failure being acceptable, and the importance of learning from your mistakes.  
 
Here’s the dialogue from a scene where the main character, Lewis, is confronted by someone from his past, whom they call Bowler Hat Guy.  The Bowler Hat Guy chose to hold a huge grudge against Lewis because he couldn’t let go of the past. 
 
Lewis: Goob, I had no idea!
Bowler Hat Guy: Shut up! And don’t call me “Goob”! How many evil villians do you know that can pull off a name like “Goob”? Bleh!
Lewis:
Look, I’m sorry your life turned out so bad. But don’t blame me you messed it up yourself. You just focused on the bad stuff when all you had to do was… let go of the past and keep moving forward…
Bowler Hat Guy: Hmm, let’s see… take responsiblity for my own life or blame you? Dingdingdingdingding! Blame you wins hands down! 
  
You can allow the past to consume you, inhibiting you from learning from it and really moving forward, like the Bowler Hat Guy who refused to blame himself for his own unhappiness. Or you can put the past behind you, grow from the experience, and become a better person.
 
The movie ended with the Walt Disney quote above, which summed up the movie perfectly. Our lives are designed to move forward and whether we like it or not, life will go on.  Keep Moving Forward!
